lego legs - colour

And a bit of colour...

legs - higher res.

Made a second version of the legs and hip section, this time increasing the resolution so the circular sections appear smoother.

lego legs

I've decided to go back to the lego mindstorm project that I got nowhere near completeing just before Christmas - starting with rebuilding the lego man. This is a quick version of the legs i've created. This time i've managed to get my hands on a real lego model (i'm sure there's an oxymoron in there somewhere) that i've taked orthographic shots of.
Started off modeling it from an eight sided cylinder as i was in two minds whether to sub-d it or not. Decided sub-d'ing it would be a bad idea - too faffy, but the model i've created here is too low res - looks like something off a nintendo gameboy; so i'll have to build it again but start with a higher resolution cylinder (sixteen faces should do the trick).

Once it's modeled i intend to rig the thing - should be a reasonably simple task because theres no flex in the limbs, so it's just a case of rotating from pivot points. I have played lego batman on the Nintendo DS, and they do have a bit of give midway throughout the joints, and it works for the sake of the game - so might look into that option later on.
